Bio:
Singer Eamonn Gibney's (RIP) career includes Purple Pussycat (1968-69),
The Arrows (circa 1969), Alice (1970-71) who became Brogue (1971-72),
Skid Row (1973-75), Gibney & Donovan Band (on and off in the late 70s) and The Allies (late 1980s).
He also released solo material.
The two Gibney Donovan Band singles recorded for Hawk Records in the late 70s are mediocre,
including the ill-judged, almost disco-fied cover of 'You've Got Your Troubles'.
They band backed Marianne Faithful on at least one occasion.
Gibney's solo singles are similar. 'Pack Up Your Bags' is a Philly soul style number while '"Let Us
Break Bread Together' (which Gibney recorded with Alice back in 1970) is
more gospel.
Gibney and Donovan together with Tommy Mangan formed The Allies in the
mid-80s, who released several pop/rock singles and one album on the Irish branch of K-Tel Records.
Eamonn Gibney passed away in 2014.
