Bio:
The Circus were a duo from Malahide who recorded a 3-song demo
tape at Chrome Yellow's Lada Studios ca 1988
with Joe Caprani (of Chrome Yellow) producing.
They later expanded the lineup to include Deirdre O'Neill (vocals) and Graham Darcy (bass)
and changed their name to Gavin Is God, active circa 1988-89. Drummer
Anto D'Arcy joined form 1984ish, as did Pat Murphy somewhat later.
Gavin Is God played a residency at T Upstairs at the Baggot around 1989
alongside a band called The Flying Kidney.
They had a song called 'Small Man' on a demo which was played several times by
Dave Fanning. See the Fanning Sessions archive for more details.
Gavin Is God became The Joys circa 1990.
