Bio:
Early Dublin punk band with a 3-guitar "wall of noise" sound including Denis Rusk who was
also playing with The Strougers. The Citizens played a
few youth club gigs in Glasnevin area
in north Dublin, the Magnet Bar in the city (with The Edge guesting on guitar), and most notably
the Punk Festival held at
St.Anthony's Hall on 22 November 1978 with Skank Mooks
and the Virgin Prunes a.o. Bono guested with The Citizens
on a a Sid Vicious-style version of "My Way" (if anyone attended this festival, please get in touch; or if
anyone knows the Dundalk fanzine that printed a review of the festival).
There are no recordings.
Emmett O'Reilly and Martin Greene were later in New Career and
Montage.
Denis Rusk was also in The Strougers, New Career,
Paul Angle,
Cuba Dares and Venetian Blonde.
David Herlihy later became an actor (he played the character Chuck in Glenroe).
Emmett O'Reilly wrote the Local Motions column for Hot Press for several years.
