Bio:
Hank Halfhead & The Rambling Turkeys was formed by Niall Toner junior and Niall Toner senior
initially to fulfill a cancelled date at the club hosted in the Harcourt Hotel in Dublin in 1985. The band lasted
for seven or eight years. It featured many musicians over the years including Joey Pleass
(The Dixons), Dave Clarke (Blue in Heaven, Hothouse Flowers) and Peter
Maybury - all drummers - Declan Jones (Blue in Heaven) on bass and
Colm McCaughey (Interference) on fiddle. They also had many guest appearances (Rory Gallagher, Paul Brady, etc).
Niall Toner Jr left in January 1989 to concentrate on The Dixons, who were picking up a lot of
interest at the time. Glen Hansard (Frames) took over his slot as second vocalist.
There was a Dave Fanning session and below is a link to one of the tracks. This
one features the 'classic' lineup, Niall Toners jr and sr, Mick O'Doherty, Frank
Kelly, Colm McCaughey, Joey Pleass and Anita Woods.
