The Chapter House

From: Cork

Active: 1986-89

Style: Synth Pop

Lineup (1983):

Bio:

Cork city band formed in 1986 by Skully (ex Real Mayonnaise) and Ann Redmond (ex Porcelyn Tears). The The Chapter House sound was more like Porcelyn Tears than Real Mayonnaise. Guitar was absent from the lineup though Jeff Buckley (also ex Real Mayonnaise) played bass with the band for a while.

The Chapter House appeared on TV several times during their 3-4 year career and were Radio 2FM Hot Press Band of 1986.

They released at least one 7-inch single, a slice of sophisticated synth-pop titled "Scorch Avenue", considered a classic of it's kind by some. There may have been a second single (possibly titled "Seventh Heaven"?) but this is unconfirmed. They split in 1989 when no deal for an LP was forthcoming.

Skully formed Metisse in 1997.
