Poor Genius Records

last updated 22 Jan 2017

Poor Genius Records was started in the mid-70s by David Hammond and James Simmons in Portrush to record the best folk music they could find, be it traditional or contemporary. Three LP releases were announced for September 1975: by Sarah Makem, John Doherty, and James Simmons. Only the Simmons LP emerged, in 1976.
