The Vampires

From: Dublin

Active: circa 1964-70

Style:

Lineup:

Bio:

Dublin pop/soul band noted for their vocal harmonies who famously supported the Beach Boys in Dublin in May 1967.

The original singer Tony Kenny fronted the band from 1964-67. He left to join The Sands and was replaced by Mick Roche.

Their sole single is weak in my opinion but you can judge for yourself as both sides are included on the Ireland's Beat Groups compilation. The A-side lead vocal is by Mick Roche, the B-side by Tommy Moore. Tommy Moore is the brother of Butch Moore of the Capitol Showband.

The Vampires also tried the showband circuit to some degree with the obligatory horn section. When Mick Roche left for the Arrows, he was replaced by Gary Kane who fronted the band until the split in 1970.
