All Cats Are Grey

From: Tuam

Active: 198?-85?

Style: Rock/Power Pop

Lineup:

Bio:

Formed in Tuam by the McHugh brothers. There was also a second guitar player who left. Red McGrath was replaced by Alan Flynn. They were managed by Leo Moran, ex of The Mix.

Despite their name suggesting comparisons with The Cure, All Cats Are Grey were a bit like the Undertones, playing bright happy guitar pop songs about girlfriends and the like. They supported New Order in April 1983 at UCG (with New Testament). In 1985(?) they recorded a demo in RCF Studios in Galway and made a video for one track, "The Bed is Rough", shot in Tuam Railway Station.

When they split, Mousey, Alan Flynn and Leo Moran formed Too Much For The Whiteman in 1985 approx. Leo Moran the following year, eventually forming the Saw Doctors. Mousey McHugh and Red McGrath both did stints in the Saw Doctors in later years.
