Lucky Numbers

From: Cappamore, Co.Limerick

Active: 1978- approx

Style: Pop

Lineup:

Bio:

Led by Shay Fyfe, Lucky Numbers were a hybrid showband/pop group who played the ballroom circuit. Remarkably profilic, they released approximately 15 singles between 1978-83, including four on their own Lucky Records label. Most of these were band originals. They are a very mixed bag, but there are some good rock and disco tracks among them.

Their best known song is "Brian Boru", about the ancient Irish King of the same name, in a similar vein to Boney M's "Rasputin". The lyrics are hilarious.

Lucky Numbers were still treading the boards in the late 90s. Drummer Doc Horan subsequently joined The Conquerors.
