Ferguson, McAvoy (on guitar) & O'Neill had all been in an earlier band called Pride (1966-68) with Tom Kidd (vocals) and Don Donaghy (bass). The band changed lineup a couple of times. Deep Joy supported Taste on their last UK tour in late 1970. When Taste split on 31st December 1970, Deep Joy followed suit with Gerry McAvoy & Wilgar Campbell joining Rory Gallagher's new band and backing him on his solo releases, Wilger until 1972's "Live In Europe", McAvoy through the decade and beyond.
