Bio:
The Axills were the first really big beat group in Cork. They were very successful
locally and played further afield, including the clubs in Dublin and Limerick.
They were managed by Peter Sanquest's brother Kevin Sanquest.
In 1966 they had plans to go to the USA to tour and to record a single but both
plans fell through. Rory Gallagher played with them in 1966 after he left The Impact.
They invited Rory to join fulltime, but he had plans to form a group of his own.
When The Axills split, Kitteringham and Damery joined up with Gallagher
in the first lineup of Taste, who Kevin Sanquest also managed in the early days.
